DIY Toddler Edible Finger Paint

Updated: Oct 1, 2020

Happy Friday Friends!

I know all kids go through the “put everything in my mouth phase”, but my darling Olivia seems to have held on to that idea a little while longer than her peers. My fellow mama friends would set up finger painting parties for our toddlers and my kid in10 seconds would be crying her eyes out because I wouldn’t let her eat the paint. smh.

Enter DIY edible finger paint.

Very simple and easy to set up and you probably already have everything you need in your kitchen!

What you will need:

Food coloring

Small bowls

Baking pans

Old bed sheet

Step 1: fill each bowl 3/4 of the way with yogurt.

Step 2: In each bowl put a generous amount (about 2 teaspoons) of food coloring and stir.

Step 3: lay out the bed sheet in your desired painting area (this makes clean up a breeze).

Step 4: set up the baking pans with 2 tablespoons (or more) of each color separated out.

Step 5: Set you toddler down (preferably in just a diaper) with a paint brush and let them explore and learn to their hearts desire!

Finding this activity gave me so much solace in knowing my child can safely explore textures, colors, and taste if she wants with out the tears and meltdowns from before. I hope you and your little one enjoy this activity as much as Olivia and her bff Taylor did! (pictures taken pre-quarantine)

Thanks for reading!
